When one describes an incident or a particular story, it is called a narration. A narrative is a format that is constructive like an article, speech, etc. And it describes a sequence of events that are fictional or non-fictional. It is derived from Latin word 'narrare', which means 'to recount', the details of the events.

- Logical order: The sequence of the narrative writing should be done in a logical order.
- Don't drag the narrative: Any narrative writing or narrative story writing should be paced well and should be kept in a pace that will keep the readers interested.
- Leading to conclusion: The entire narrative writing or narrative story writing style should be in a way to lead to the conclusion or the logical end of the story or the article.
Narrative writing is writing about a particular incident in a way that will give the reader all the details of the incident from the beginning to the end. It usually involves writing about a non-fictional event. Narrative story writing involves mainly fictional events or a story based on the author's imagination. Narrative writing does not usually involve a character or characters to support the narration or chain of events like in narrative story writing.
Article writing concentrates on writing to catch the eye of the reader from the headline itself. Narrative writing and narrative story writing do need attractive headlines but they are not headlines, they are titles of the story which will give a meaning to the story. Narrative writing does not shorten the details of the events or gets to the point, instead it gives elaborate details of the events.
Narrative writing is preferred by authors of books who have the liberty to write at length giving all possible details. It is also used to write elaborately about the products or services of a company.
